You know what isn’t always that funny to people who can’t afford say, college? Calling them out for being poor on social media. Oh, hello, Federal Student Aid’s twitter account. You seem to have made a mistake in that area.
The @FAFSA account issued an apology last night after reportedly deleting a tweet that it’s called “insensitive.”
Here’s one Twitter user’s screengrab of the tweet, which uses a meme reading “Help me, I’m poor” with an image from the movie Bridesmaids starring Kristen Wiig:
The @FAFSA account has since deleted the tweet, and issued an apology about four hours after it went out, writing: “We apologize for the insensitivity of our previous tweet. Our goal is to make college a reality for all. We’re very sorry.”
