Visitors to the Crayola Facebook page were seeing Brick Red, or perhaps blushing in shades of Carnation Pink on Sunday when they realized that some nogoodniks had taken over the account and decided to have a laugh by juvenile but not kid-friendly updates for the crown company’s 2.45 million fans to see.
Here are just some of the not-exactly NSFW — but decidedly not intended for youngsters — images that were posted using the hijacked Crayola account over the weekend:
After being made aware of the embarrassing posts, Crayola eventually Tweeted to let people know that this was not some sort of change in the company’s marketing plan:
“Our sincere apologies to our Facebook community for the inappropriate and offensive posts you may have seen here,” Crayola, a division of Hallmark, eventually posted once it was able to wrest control back. “Please be assured the official Crayola page has been restored. We can’t thank our fans enough for the feedback and support we received while working to resolve the issue … you truly are the best and we look forward to an exciting and creative 2015!”
No one has taken responsibility for the prank yet, though we’re guessing this was not an attack by the North Korean government which has not been a fan of bright colors under the leadership of Kim Jong-un or his father Kim Jong-il.
