Here comes a severe case of the yucks: Police in Minnesota are investigating a man who they say may have wheeled his deceased mother into a bank to take out $850 in cash, seven hours before she called to report that she had passed away.
In what would amount to a nightmarishly real life version of Weekend at Bernie’s, officials are looking into whether a man who’s already been investigated for elderly neglect brought his almost 91-year-old deceased mom to make a withdrawal, reports MyFoxTwinCities.com.
Workers at the bank told police the woman’s feet were dragging under her wheelchair, and that she “did not move,” according to a search warrant. Employees also “couldn’t tell if seh was breathing.”
The man’s neighbor saw them leave in a cab and also had suspicions, saying, “I don’t know if she was unconscious, or not alive.”
When the man did report she’d died, police arrived at the home seven hours later and were greeted with the stench of urine and feces. They found her in bed in a robe and fur coat, with her boots covered in bodily waste.
But he denies the allegation that he brought her to the bank dead.
“My mother and I had an agreement,” told the news station. “I took care of my mom for years, I’m the good guy here, not the bad guy.”
Shudder away, everyone.
